T4 show to be scrapped?

Shipwrecked could face being cast away because of the credit crunch.

The tropical reality show, which is facing the axe, became an instant hit in 2000 with its mix of sun, sand and sexy contestants.

The Sunday morning T4 programme is credited with kicking off the craze for reality TV - launching the career of Jeff Brazier - the dad of Jade Goody's children.

Stars out for Space hit

The crew of the starship Enterprise is preparing to boldy go where it's never gone before.

For the first time in Star Trek's 43-year history, the main characters are being played by different actors.

Relative unknowns Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto join the cast as Captain Kirk and Mr Spock in the new film, which premieres in London's Leicester Square later.

Simon Pegg stars as Mr Scott.

Slumdog Sale?

The dad of one of the child stars of Slumdog Millionaire's denied newspaper reports he'd tried to sell his daughter.

The News of the World claimed over the weekend that Rubina Ali's dad was willing to put her up for adoption at a price.

He says the reports are all lies, although he admits meeting a reporter who was posing as a wealthy Arab sheikh.

Narrow escape!

A British soldier serving in Afghanistan's had a miraculous escape.

A bullet passed straight through Private Leon Wilson's combat helmet without injuring him.

He'd been firing his machine gun for seven hours during a battle against the Taliban when he was struck by a round from an AK47.

The bullet missed his forehead by 2mm and went out the other side!

Congregation KO!

Churchgoers have been praised by police for rugby-tackling a a man with a knife to the ground.

Members of the Church of the Latter-Day Saints in Swindon were attending Sunday worship yesterday lunchtime when the incident happened.

A man began acting in a strange way and when he was ushered outside he pulled out a large kitchen knife.

A 34-year-old man's been arrested.

Martian Music

The Doctor Who music's been named the best science fiction theme tune of all time.

The eerie chords which were created nearly half a century ago, came out top in an online poll of sci-fi fans.

They beat the more singalong Red Dwarf theme into second place.

In third was the X-Files music.

it's all got a bit noisy in some of Gloucestershire's libraries...

and for once teenagers aren't getting the blame.

The county council's installing sound systems in all new and upgraded libraries.

But it's not going down well with everyone.

Older readers looking for books have complained they're struggling to concentrate.

Best bar in Britain

A pub in Norwich has been named the best in Britain and one of the best in the world.

The Gardener's Arms is well known in the area, but the locals know it best as 'The Murderers'.

The pub is in the Timberhill area of the city, and dates back to the 16th century.

It's been voted the best watering hole in the UK and in the top 10 globally.

It's thought it stands out because of the traditional exposed beams and traditional atmosphere.

In the East of England, we're all at risk - but none moreso than if you live in Kings Lynn or West Norfolk

A new environmental report reckons around 8,500 homes and businesses in Kings Lynn could be destroyed if we had bad floods.

Homeowner Hell

Falling house prices are meaning more and more home owners in Britain are going into negative equity.

It's a scary word if you've got a mortgage...it basically means the loan you are paying on a property is worth more than the house itself!

The Council of Mortgage Lenders says almost 1.2million people owed more than their house was worth, by the end of February.

It's almost as bad as it was during the last housing recession, back in 1993.

Pasta Joke

Two celeb chefs battling it out in Hell's Kitchen cheated in their pasta challenge but only one confessed.

Adrian Edmondson and Danielle Bux struggled with the ravioli dish - even after a masterclass from a US chef - so they used pasta that had been prepared in the lesson.

Adrian stayed tight-lipped, but Danielle fessed up - claiming she'd used her initiative.

Actor Ashton Kutcher has beaten US media-giant CNN in a race to see who could notch up one million followers on Twitter first.

The husband of Demi Moore threw down the gauntlet to the news network earlier this week - and won the race overnight.

The loser had to make a charity donation.

The Security service is advertising for a chief scientific adviser to help lead the technological battle against terrorism.

Classic Bond films always had a scene where Q would show 007 the latest gadgets and inventions to help him along the way.

Half Blood Trailer out now

If you're a Harry Potter fan, you can get your first taster of the next movie.

The trailer for The Half Blood Prince has just been released - exactly three months before the movie hits cinema screens.

The promo shows sweeping shots of London, with Death Eaters swooping on Trafalgar Square and the Millennium Bridge collapsing into the Thames.

You will be able to watch the trailers if you go to the cinema this weekend.

Women are more likely to give birth before they turn 25 than get married, according to official statistics that illustrate how British family life has been transformed in a generation.

Bully boy Ben to blame?

After being fired by Sir Alan Sugar on The Apprentice last night, Paula has accused teammate Ben of being a bully.

Her team lost the challenge to produce bath products - after making a big miscalculation and running up costs of more than £:1,100.

But she says Ben was aggressive and refused to take responsibility.

Complaints after 'wardrobe malfunction'

Loads of people have complained about one of the acts on last weekends Britain's Got Talent.

Fabia Cerra was a Burlesque dancer who stripped off on stage.

Midway through her act her nipple tassels fell off.

If you wantched it on TV you would have seen producers had to cover her embarassment with two Union Jack flags.

ITV has argued the 'wardrobe malfunction' was 'comedic rather than titillating'.

Whatever it was - you lot have viewed over six million times on YouTube!

The Governemnt want us to ditch our conventional cars and go electric!

They reckon it's the future of driving and the way we all need to go.

At the moment electric cars can only travel about 70 miles before they need recharging.

Gordon Browns trying to encourage us to buy greener motors by offering up to £5000 off a new electric car.

Search for 'suspicious' devices

The police are searching a farm in Cambridgeshire again this morning.

Officers found several suspicious devices at a property in Coton yesterday

A 100 metre cordon was placed around the address in Madingley Road.

The police say they'd gone there to look for firearms.

Two men are being questioned at the moment.

C section for soccer wife

Pregnant Coleen Rooney is reportedly planning a Caesarean birth to fit in with the footy season.

Baby Rooney is due on October 10th - close to a crucial World Cup qualifier against Ukraine.

It's thought Coleen is now planning for a September birth to give the Manchester United striker a chance of playing in the game.

More and more of us are getting on our bikes.

Commuters are taking advantage of tax breaks and turning to pedal power to beat the recession - according to industry figures.

Halfords says 34,000 people bought bikes through the Government's Cycle2Work scheme in the past year, that's an increase of 50%.

Oprah date for Maddie parents

The parents of Madeleine McCann are hoping new images will help in the search for their missing daughter.

Kate and Gerry are going on Oprah Winfrey's chat show in America next month to mark the second anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance.

She was three at the time so the family have altered some pictures using age-progression techniques to produce images of how she might look now.

Kanye West certainly has an eclectic group of friends.

He's posted a photo on his blog of him posing with Brandon Flowers of The Killers and actor Jared Leto.

Film director Quentin Tarantino is back on American Idol in the States tonight to mentor the seven remaining wannabes.

The theme this week is Idols At The Movies where they'll be singing songs from films.

Tarantino was a guest judge on American Idol a few years ago when they did a similar theme.

Remembering Reds Fans

Footy fans are remembering the victims of the Hillsborough tragedy today.

It's exactly 20 years since the crush at Sheffield Wednesday's ground, which killed 96 people.

A two minutes silence will be held at 3:06pm - the exact time Liverpool's FA Cup semi final with Nottingham Forest was abandoned back in 1989.

It was the worst tragedy in British sporting history.

A singer from Britain's Got Talent has landed an 'A-list' fan in Hollywood.

Demi Moore posted a link to Susan Boyle's performance of a West End song on her Twitter account.

She wowed judges with her version of 'I Dreamed a Dream' - after being initially mocked by the audience.

The clip's been viewed four million times.

Jacko jumble sale off

Michael Jackson's Neverland auction's not happening now...

There was a plan to sell lots of his belongings from his beloved ranch, but it's been called off after his lawyers got involved.

Jacko didn't want the auction - he wanted to keep everything.

More than 1300 items including a customised Rolls Royce limousine and dozens of Michael's old concert costumes - had been due to go under the hammer.

Madonna's apparently trying to recreate London in New York.

It's reported she's splashed out 27 million pounds on a Georgian style town-house in Manhattan, similar to the one in London she shared with Guy Richie.

According to The Sun, it has 13 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.
