Blackfriars station upgrade work

One of London's busiest Tube stations is going to shut for nearly three years.

Blackfriars will close from next March until late 2011 for upgrade work.

40,000 workers and tourists use the station every day.

Results through - finally

It's a controversial day for school teachers and pupils.

The SATs results were finally released this morning - a month late.

1% more 11 year-olds are passing their English and Maths tests, compared to a year ago.

But 9 out of 10 teachers have told researchers from think-tank Civitas they don't believe the figures.

They're convinced grades are being artificially inflated.

An American company was put in charge of looking after the tests.

Apparently the hotel heiress was recently approached to take on the role in Chicago but
didn't want to endure a gruelling 6 day week.

Paris says she was flattered but with her busy schedule she just couldn't fit it in.

Cruelty cases of 'celebrity' pets

Paris Hilton's got one, so have lots of celebrities...a handbag-sized dog.

There has been lots of interest in minature pooches over the last year and it's fuelling an epidemic of rogue puppy traders across Britain.

According to an investigation by Cosmopolitan magazine, some private breeders cram hundreds of lapdogs into tiny cages.

Some dogs were also kept in the dark without water or exercise for up to nine hours a day.

Young US love Becks

He has been honoured at the Teen Choice Awards over there.

Ah, Monday. Nominations day. And once again this week, housemates from hell had to pass a task in order to earn the right to nominate... the task?

Sprout eating!

There were 300 sprouts given to the three housemates in hell (Mikey, Kat & Nicole), and Big Brother reckoned it'd take them about three hours to scoff them all back. This was at midday.

At 8pm, Mikey was still insisting he'd make it.

He didn't, and just before 9pm he threw the towel in - Nicole & Kat had already given up, so for the first time since the divide went up, the housemates from hell will not be nominating this week...
